I Want to Lose 20kg in 1 Month

I hear it a lot. And when I ask the person, “do you really think you can lose 20kg in one month?”, they look at me and say, “ehen, of course”. So I ask them again, “then why haven’t you don it already?”. Honestly, there is nothing wrong in reaching for the stars, it’s great and I advise that you always do. But be SMART about it. You need to figure out and plan how you are going to get to the moon. Do you need a space ship? How long would you need to build it? What materials do you need? Sorting out the details is not to discourage you, or to kill the desire, what it actually does it helps your brain figure out a way to make it happen.

So, you want to lose 20kg in 1 month, what do you need to make that happen? In thinking about it you will discover that you would need to lose 5kg in a week. What do you need to make that happen? An insane amount of exercise (maybe 15hours active exercise a day) and to reduce your calorie intake so much that it would probably be unhealthy. Now, would you want to risk your health to lose weight? The answer, of course, is up to you. By the way, I never encourage people to risk their health to lose weight or for any other reason for that matter.

The guide I use in helping my clients set their goals is the SMART goal method. Your goals must be:

S: Specific

M: Measurable

A: Achievable

R: Realistic

T: Time bound

Think though the details of achieving your goal. Go the extra mile to use NLP techniques to feel and internalise the visual, auditory, kinaesthetic sensations you would experience when you achieve your goal. Then begin to live your life like everything you desire and are aiming for is already a reality.

So, what’s your weight loss goal?
