Why is no one talking about the increasing depression in Nigeria?

Yeah, I said that. Be honest, it becoming more difficult to be happy in this country right now. The state of things is making people sadder, more anxious and more stressed out. Things are not working, plans are falling through, less money is being circulated. This affects the overall health of individuals. We have people that are depressed in this country, we have people that have generalised anxiety disorders, and we don’t talk about it enough. So, a lot of these people try to fight these battles silently.

Time for a little mental vacation … Session 1

I yearn to travel and just relax somewhere far away. Somewhere closer to nature where the sky is filled with bright stars that I can see. A place where the world just stops rushing through and just slows down. A place where I can feel connected to everyone and to my purpose. A place where my body can rest and heal and my mind can refresh itself. But I cannot wait for this. Life seems to keep moving, and quite fast, the load of each day feels heavier. What is a person to do?

10 benefits of being happy

A lot of people have been sad and surrounded by sadness for so long that they have forgotten to be happy. In fact some people go out of their way to sabotage happiness when they find it because it feels so strange and unusually. Being surrounded by reason to be sad can overwhelm you. Maybe someone you love is sick, you’re really low on cash, your business isn’t where you want it to be, your life might not even be where you want it to be, your health might have gotten away from you, and you are surrounded by so many reasons and reminders as to why you shouldn’t be happy. But here’s the truth,

Ten healthy habits that are so simple you could start them today

Won’t it be great to be the perfect healthy person? You’ll never eat anything unhealthy, you’ll exercise daily. You’ll be perfectly Zen at all time. Being healthy to me is consciously doing things that are healthy for you (Mind, body and spirit) continuously. You might not be perfect at it, you might eat a whole pizza by yourself (I know I have), but in every stage of your life, you still choose to be proactive about your health. Here are ten things I believe that you can start right away and begin to see amazing improvement in the quality of your life.

How to handle emotionally draining people

Be honest with yourself, if you did a scan of the people around you (Friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances etc.) you’re bound to find someone that makes you feel less when you interact with them. Just the thought of them could make you uncomfortable. They drain your energy and leave you miserable sometimes.

With this description you’ll think that the best thing to do for your emotional and mental well-being is to avoid them. But what if you can’t?

I take life in small doses

I have a confession to make, I easily get overwhelmed. When everything seems to be moving so fast and my table feels full, my default setting is to go into hibernation until I feel strong enough to handle things. Sometimes just the anticipation of an event can get me worked up. But I know this about myself, I don’t beat myself up about it. I just become aware of how to schedule and plan my things better, I plan things one at a time and in small doses. I cannot keep running away and hiding from life, I’ll miss out on all the fun and growth. So, I have to do more of the things I enjoy, and find enjoyment in everything I do.   Knowing...

Hi, Please Leave Me Alone

I tend to gravitate towards solitude. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like being lonely (of which I believe loneliness is a state of mind, you can connect with people anywhere if you choose to), but I enjoy spending time by myself, just listening to me and learning more about how I work. Some people don’t get it. My idea of fun is staying at home with a good book, and a scented candle stimulating my sense, and surrounded by fruits (just the thought of that has put a smile on my face). To simplify it, some school of thought and psychologist would tag me a introvert, but I’m not a stickler for labels, their too boxy. I have a friend that would rather be...

The Diary of Your Beautiful Mind

I have a confession to make, I spend a lot of my time in my own head, and during counselling and coaching sessions I spend some time in my client’s heads. I can discover within minutes of interacting with my clients that they may have a lot of challenges to face in order to reach their goals. The truth is, your life is a mirror of everything that happens in your mind. Everything begins in your mind. But lots of people spend their time and their money trying to fix the effect or outcome of things instead of addressing the source. People seek diets, pills and health fads to help them, but they don’t address the structures in their minds that they have created to give...
