What’s the worst place to carry your weight?

There are so many factors to consider when assessing a person’s weight. We check weight, BMI, body percentage composition. But one of the most important thing to check is where the person is carrying the weight. Some places are more risky for your health than others. In fact, a study done by Mayo shows that carrying your weight in your midsection is even worse than being obese. This means that you can be slim, but if you have a big tummy you are no better than someone who is fat all round, in fact, you might be worse off.

But also important is the type of fat you carry. We started conducting test to know how much visceral fat a person carries. Visceral fat is fat that surrounds your internal organs. The more fat you have around your organs the more at risk you are of developing cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disturbances, type 2 diabetes. Visceral fat are biologically active and secret certain chemicals and hormones that affect your heart negatively.

Carry a lot of visceral fat puts you at risk of

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Breast cancer
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Alzheimer’s disease

The good news however is that with a proper fibre rich diet, low carb eating lifestyle and exercise, you can get rid of that belly fat.
