Why you shouldn’t wait until you’re 50 years to take care of your health

Let’s face it, you’re young, you’re indestructible. You don’t have any chronic disease, you have no hypertension, diabetes, and you don’t need surgery, you’re cancer free. So why should you worry about your health when you’re so young and so fresh?

A lot of people don’t really care about their health, simply because they don’t feel sick. If they can wake up and get work done, they don’t see the need to take extra measures to take care of their health. And why should they, it’s not a problem. But waiting until you’re sick to do so, might put you in a position where it’s too late. Every chronic disease does not happen overnight. People don’t just have a heart attack or a stroke, or hypertension or cancer in one day. It is a gradual process that happens in your body while you were not paying attention. In fact, for a lot of people it is happening right now as you read this. In this moment they are already developing hypertension, diabetes, even cancer, but with no symptoms yet. These conditions are caused by years of neglect, you eat the wrong food, you deprive yourself of sleep and rest, you remain physically inactive and you keep building oxidative stress in your system that begins to cause damage on a cellular level. But since you are harming your body more than you are caring for it, it begins to fall apart with little to no room for recovery. For some people they begin to get warnings from their bodies, constant headaches, indigestions, insomnia, slightly elevated blood pressure, weight gain, weight loss, breaking hair etc. But in our busy world we ignore it, until the big incident. The big incident is the one that lands you in a hospital. The big incident usually happens when you are older, say forty years plus, or fifty or sixty, for some even earlier. So we have parents and uncles who are taking medications, you’ll think it would stand as a cautionary tale for us to start now to take better care of ourselves to avoid that.

Don’t wait until your fifty to start paying attention to your body and your health, by then you may have done some irreversible damage. Start now to arm your body and your system with what it needs to fight the effect of aging and oxidative stress. By now, I mean now, if you’re in your twenties, thirties, teens, just start now and form the habit. Some things may be out of your control, but the effort you put into taking care of your health is completely up to you.

Live healthy. Live happy.
